Mother /ˈmʌðə/ – A Superwoman with a special power to achieve anything for her child.
Motherhood, it’s not just about giving birth or adopting a child and raising him. It’s a feeling, a feeling so intense & powerful than none other. I’ve always looked upto to my mom & have had this feeling – ‘how does she manage it all so well?’. Well it’s just another exhibit of how powerful a mother can be.
Napolean Bonaparte famously said, ‘My success and everything good that I have done, I owe to my mother. So give me good mothers & France shall have good sons’.
This symbolises so much and certainly has the greatest meaning to it.
Mothers love always will be so underrated, her efforts in building up the conscience of her child, sacrifices she makes & journeys she takes can never be explained in words enough.
Being a mother means being completely and totally overwhelmed (in the best possible way) by love, joy, responsibility, and selflessness. Motherhood is to sleep with one eye open and always worry. To constantly feel guilty about SOMETHING. To have your heart so filled with love you think it might explode and then have it broken all in the space of less that 60 seconds. All of that on a constant repeat motion set on an infinite time loop till the end of her life. Though it is maddening, terrifying at times, it is also glorious and beautiful; and the most absurd part is that they’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
A mother never says to her child, ‘You owe me.’ This is why her love is boundless, endless, seamless, selfless & totally unconditional. She cries when she gets mad with her children, she hates when she reprimands them, she loves the single stroke of a smile on her child. She watches them sleep peacefully before going to sleep herself and all she does is do what’s best for her children, regardless of where it takes her.
That epitome of love, care & affection is unique to a mother, Being a mother is a constant effort of trying to make the best of every situation, choosing her battles, and planning ahead!
Today we cherish, celebrate & acknowledge the light of a mother, her role in constructing a civilization & ensuring it’s survival.
Happy Mother’s Day!
(Dedicated to my mother & all those amazing mothers out there)
